A display of information and pictures of waders found in the Beachport area.

Maureen Christie will give a talk at the info centre followed by a guided walk if waders are present in the area.

Waders in the Port MacDonnell Area (Press Release - PDF 47K)

Spend a day with local wader enthusiasts identifying migratory waders recently returned from their high Arctic breeding grounds. If you are lucky you might spot some of the coloured tags placed on these birds to help us learn more about their movements across the globe.

Coorong Nature Tours – Coorong National Park

An opportunity to tag-a-long on a tour of the Coorong system. David Dadd is a local expert on the birdlife of the Coorong system.The tag-a-long tour allows you to drive your own vehicle and stop off with David to explore the natural wonders of the region, learn how to spot birdlife, and ensure you experience the true story of the waders returning from the northern hemisphere. Other tours available by appointment.

An emotive and fascinating collection of photographs and memorabilia of the mighty River Murray flood, displayed on board Dart barge.

Catch the exhibition at any one of a number of river towns telling the stories, and the drama of the highest flood in living memory. There are several special dinners, and other associated activities.

1956 River Murray Flood Commemorative Activities – Rural City of Murray Bridge

1956 Flood 50th Anniversary Exhibition consisting of photographs, memorabilia and footage from the 1956 River Murray flood. The event will culminate with the “Now and Then” Fair on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th of October at Sturt Reserve.

11th NOVEMBER

Mallee Dawn Bird-watching Walk

Dawn is a wonderful time of the day to enjoy the mallee and its wildlife. Join Monarto Zoological Park guides for a walk through the Park where over 100 bird species have been recorded, from wrens to emu. There is a diverse flora present, which has resulted in different bird habitats for foraging and nesting.

The Park also has most communities of plants and animals to be found in the Murraylands,we are sure to see kangaroos and other mallee fauna, possibly including the elusive echidna as we wander through the limestone studded bush.

The morning will conclude with an Australian Bush Breakfast & optional Safari Bus Tour.

Meander through Watervalley Wetlands at your own pace or participate in a tag-a-long tour through the Morella Station’s heritage vegetation and wetland areas. Learn about the history of the area, its flora and fauna – a great nature-based experience suitable for the whole family.

A Birds-eye cultural & educational view

Members of the Australia-China Friendship Society (SA Branch) will show photographic and video presentations of the Chinese habitat of the migratory wader birds.
